| Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Arrived yesterday
morning at 6:30 AM after a 4 hour red-eye flight from Macau.
Accomplished quite a lot in 1 day, considering how tired we were.
Petronas Twin Towers, Masjid Jamek, Little India, Central Market,
Chinatown, and Dataran Merdeka, and today we checked out the Forest
Research Institute of Malaysia, Batu Caves, and Jalan Bukit Bintang.
The Red Palm hostel's staff
is incredibly friendly, and the foooooooood, oh man. The one thing that
stuck out the most to me were how hospitable the locals are.
They'd go out of the way to drop what they were doing and show us the
way. Take for instance today, on our way to FRIM, a waiter we asked
directions from, literally left his job for 10 minutes, so he could
walk with us to show us the bus stop.
We're heading off to the Cameron Highlands tomorrow. Strawberry fields,
tea plantations, banana rotif, yuuummmm. I'll post pics when i get the
chance.

| An Attempt at Redemption
These past four months in Hong Kong have been amazing. It's one thing to visit a place, and another to live there and immerse yourself in the day-to-day. I have also been privelaged to have the chance to do quite a bit of traveling since I've been abroad. Below are pictures of a few of the places I've been so far. As you can imagine, each destination is unique in its own right, and has only heightened my desire to travel more. Oh, and for those of you not "in the know," I have decided to extend one additional semester. After all, I still have Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore to visit.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are 39,000:
Bangkok & Pattaya, Thailand

Taipei, Taiwan

Bali, Indonesia

| Happy Birthday to my best friend, Krista!

I can't believe I can't be there to celebrate this day with you. Whether it's reminiscing about high-school drama, or day dreaming about what's in store for the future, there's no one else I've ever been better able to relate to. I hope you have a fabulous 22nd birthday, and make sure to take an extra shot (or eat an additional slice of cake =P ) for me. Miss u!

| Hello from Hong Kong
It's been a week since I arrived & I've been nothing but busy. During the first week we did nothing but shop in the various night markets. It's amazing how much you can haggle in some areas. The prices range from super expensive to dirt cheap. I've got to remember that the $ I brought with me has to last 4 months.
Here is one of the first purchases I made at "Lou Yun Gai" (Ladie's Street) in Mong Kok :

After bargaining in Canto, I was able to aquire the above bag for less than half of what she quoted me.
Although I expected the heat & humidity, I must admit that I didn't expect other things like "underwear juice" (as Lindsey likes to call it) dripping down from the skyscrapers above or eating at restaurants where cockroaches the size of eggs mingle across people's feet.

Even with all the cockroaches & underwear juice, I must say HK is a beautiful place. Whether we're out enjoying touristy spots like "Avenue of the Stars" (pictured below)

or viewing cultural treasures like the Chi Lin Nunnery

it's been tons of fun.
I wish you were all here with me. Love you all.

P.S. Leave me your physical addresses by way of e-mail so I can sent u letters & postcards! | | |
